Bush, economics and climate change
As part of his analysis of triage in (US) politics,
Bob Burnett examines the Iraq war, the hurricane Katrina and ends with a comment on the reticence of the Bush administration to apply triage to the climate issue on the grounds 'that "premature" action might hurt the economy' - a consequence of their short-sighted spin by which they claim that the scientific community isn't sure about climate change.
Clearly, if we are to take climate triage seriously, the US government need persuasion applied by its electorate.
